To explain what it takes to run the system, we can show you better than we can tell you.
Example Projects
Examples below represent just a few of the Education projects that I've been involved with. Each graphic + description gives a quick snapshot of an actual project that, in almost every case, generated countless other materials. Please contact me if you'd like to discuss a project in greater detail...
Knowledge Is Power
Transit advocates had settled into "knee-jerk" criticism. Often, they simply didn't have complete or up-to-date information. To enable sharper advocacy, I have taught semi-formal courses on the ingredients of effective transit – including behind-the-scenes tasks.
Step Into Our Shoes
Board members had learned the org chart – but didn't fully understand how departments related to each other. I've hosted workshops to put functions in context. Participants see clearer connections among policy, budget, management and service.
Learn It to Teach It
Staff turnover was inherently high at this student-run transit system. I guided student managers to become confident in transit operations, to add (and implement) their own insights – and to pass it all along to next year's management team.
My Approach
Transit management isn't some dry, academic study. It's an exciting, fast-paced game of strategy. It's equal parts art and science – and the more you know, the more you want to know. I'll offer my own experience as an example: decades in, I learn something new (and useful!) every day.
Thanks to our enormous footprint in cities and metropolitan areas, we transit agencies come into contact with many stakeholders: customers, taxpayers, vendors, regulators, employees, neighbors, visitors, appointed and elected officials, critics and cheerleaders.
Among these audiences, I see benefit in spreading knowledge about our mission, our strengths and our challenges. I meet stakeholders where they are – and, at a comfortable pace, I equip them with technical knowledge. It all promotes a richer, more productive dialogue with our communities.
Here We Start... Here we go!

This website references actual projects that I have actually worked on. My connection to each project may be or may have been as an advisor/consultant, an employee of a transit industry vendor or a direct employee of a transit agency. Projects featured are intended as examples of my work and my capabilities; I do not claim ownership of any project delivered by any vendor or produced for any agency. Thanks :)
