Even with a constantly changing landscape for transportation, we can develop effective, inclusive and attractive transit options.
Example Projects
Examples below represent just a few of the Service Design projects that I've been involved with. Each graphic + description gives a quick snapshot of an actual project that, in almost every case, generated countless other materials. Please contact me if you'd like to discuss a project in greater detail...
Keep It Simple
Complex, branching routes once defined this transit system. I began the effort to simplify. The resulting service wasn't just easier to understand – it also enabled greater efficiencies.
Closing Time
A faltering mall no longer made sense as a transit hub. I completely reorganized service to embrace active destinations. Changes were revenue-neutral and earned positive feedback from customers.
What Borders?
The goal was easier, faster trips for customers crossing jurisdictional lines. I spearheaded a pilot limited-stop regional service. A landmark success, the effort led to several permanent new routes.
My Approach
I start by taking stock of destinations, data, demographics, infrastructure and operating resources. I also scope out qualitative factors that vary from place to place: partnerships, policy priorities, historical background and the local "conventional wisdom" around transit.
From these inputs, I hit the maps and start sketching. I’ve developed treatments including microtransit, feeder routes, regional corridor routes, express routes and neighborhood routes. Settings have ranged from rural to exurban to suburban to central city; motivations have ranged from urgent budget cuts to long-term service expansions.
In any situation, I design transit services that are equitable, customer-friendly and street-ready. These tenets are timeless.

This website references actual projects that I have actually worked on. My connection to each project may be or may have been as an advisor/consultant, an employee of a transit industry vendor or a direct employee of a transit agency. Projects featured are intended as examples of my work and my capabilities; I do not claim ownership of any project delivered by any vendor or produced for any agency. Thanks :)
